Aircon installation & repairs on Durban's North Coast, built for salt air.
Durban's North Coast is the hardest place in South Africa to keep an air conditioner alive. We supply, install and service coastal-spec systems that survive it — with SAQCC Gas-registered technicians and a written workmanship guarantee.
Field manual · Services
Everything between hot and handled.
From a single bedroom midwall to a full ducted system in a Zimbali home — supplied, installed, gassed and guaranteed by registered technicians.
Supply & installation
Split, midwall, multi-split, cassette and ducted systems — sized properly, installed cleanly, certified.
02Repairs & fault-finding
Tripping units, water leaks, error codes, dead compressors — diagnosed properly before a cent is spent.
03Re-gassing
Leak-tested first, then re-gassed to spec by SAQCC-registered hands — never a top-up on a leaking system.
04Servicing & maintenance
Coil cleans, anti-corrosion washes, filter and drain care — the difference between 4 years and 12 on the coast.
05Replacements & inverter upgrades
Swap tired fixed-speed units for inverters that sip electricity — most owners cut running costs by a third.
06Coastal-spec installs
Blue-fin coils, coated cabinets, marine-grade fixings and smart unit placement — spec'd for the salt band.
Coverage · The corridor
Six suburbs. One salt-hardened standard.
We work the M4 corridor from Durban North to Ballito. Every suburb has its own quirks — body corporates, estates, sea spray — and its own page.
Umhlanga
High-rise apartments on the Ridge, body-corporate approvals, Gateway offices.
Ballito
Ducted systems for Zimbali and Simbithi, pre-season servicing for holiday lets.
Durban North
Retrofits and replacements in established family homes.
Umdloti
The harshest salt exposure on the coast — coastal-spec only.
Mount Edgecombe
Concealed ducted systems for Country Club Estate homes.
La Lucia
Inverter upgrades and clean multi-storey installs for ridge and sea-view homes.
We likely still cover you.

Why coastal-spec
Salt air eats standard aircons for breakfast.
Within the first five kilometres of the Indian Ocean, airborne salt settles on condenser coils and starts electrolytic corrosion the day the unit is switched on. An inland-spec unit installed on a Umdloti balcony can lose its coil in under three years — long before it's paid for itself.
Blue-fin & gold-fin coils as standard
Coated condenser fins that shrug off salt instead of dissolving in it.
Placement that beats the spray line
Outdoor units positioned out of direct sea spray, on marine-grade brackets and stainless fixings.
Anti-corrosion maintenance cycles
Scheduled fresh-water coil rinses and protective washes that double the working life of a unit.
Equipment we supply & fit
SAQCC Gas-registered
Every refrigerant job is done by registered technicians — the legal standard for gas work in South Africa.
Written, itemised quotes
Equipment, piping, labour and electrical — line by line, before work starts. No verbal estimates.
Workmanship guarantee
Our installation work is guaranteed in writing, over and above the manufacturer's equipment warranty.
Coastal-spec expertise
We spec for salt exposure street by street — the difference between a 4-year unit and a 12-year one.
The whole point
February outside. Twenty-one degrees in here.
Every technical decision on this page — the coastal spec, the load calculations, the registered gas work — exists for one unremarkable moment: walking into a cool, dry lounge while the North Coast steams. A right-sized inverter holds that temperature quietly, sips electricity doing it, and keeps doing it summer after summer because it was built for the salt in the first place.

Straight answers
Questions we get every week.
Pricing, coastal-spec, timelines and registration — the four things every North Coast homeowner asks before they book.
How much does a new aircon installation cost on Durban's North Coast?
A standard 9 000 BTU midwall split, supplied and installed with up to three metres of piping, typically starts around R7 500–R9 500 depending on the brand and coastal specification. Larger rooms, multi-splits, cassettes and ducted systems are priced from a site visit. Every job gets a written, itemised quote before any work starts — and the quote itself is free within our service area.
Why do I need a coastal-spec aircon this close to the sea?
Within a few kilometres of the Indian Ocean, salt-laden air corrodes standard aluminium condenser fins — inland-spec units near the beachfront can start failing in two to three years. Coastal-spec units use protected blue-fin or gold-fin coil coatings and treated cabinets that resist salt corrosion. We fit coastal-spec as standard in high-exposure suburbs like Umdloti and Umhlanga, and advise on exposure street by street.
How quickly can you install after I accept a quote?
We aim to quote within 24 hours of your enquiry. Once you accept, a standard midwall installation is usually completed within two to five working days — a single unit is typically done in under a day on site. Multi-split and ducted projects are scheduled from a site survey, and we work Monday to Saturday, 07:00–17:00.
Are your technicians legally allowed to handle refrigerant gas?
Yes. All refrigerant work — installation, re-gassing and repairs — is carried out by SAQCC Gas-registered technicians, which is the legal requirement for handling refrigerants in South Africa. Registration means the work is done safely, to specification, and your manufacturer's warranty stays intact.
